Google Gives Sites VIP Treatment

Well it’s less Google singling a site out for special treatment, more you, the user. Google have introduced +1 which bares many similarities to Facebook’s ‘like’ button and could possibly challenge the superiority of this.

The principles are the same, if you like a site and have a Google profile, you can click on the +1 button to save it to your favourites, show your friends you recommend it and generally give the content your seal of approval.

Getting People Through the Door so to Speak

This feature marks the increasing relationship between SEO and Social as the two disciplines blur the boundaries between each other. It is also an indication of Google’s instance on quality content.

The +1 feature is rewarding sites with quality content that people appreciate in a very public way. So whilst ranking well for search terms will remain important, having a +1 might be just enough to get people through the door.

Whilst all the search techniques can get sites to rank highly, having a personal seal of approval is sometimes the difference people look for; +1 will provide this.
