There are a number of obstacles faced by in-house search engine optimisation (SEO) teams which may be avoided by enlisting third-party assistance, it has been claimed.
Writing for Search Engine Watch, Kevin Ryan explains that individuals within an organisation can hamper SEO efforts.
This may include using friends and relatives in place of SEO experts - causing "nearly irreparable damage" to a website's optimisation as a result.
Alternatively, decision makers may be promised a top-place ranking for a highly competitive search term.
"The in-house SEO practitioner spends more time doing damage control than achieving results," Mr Ryan comments.
He previously wrote for the information resource that stable investment avenues are likely to continue to provide search marketing returns despite tightened economic conditions.
According to Mr Ryan, promotional methods which provide high levels of accountability are likely to be in demand from firms looking to ensure that their advertising investments are well placed.
