An Overview of September News In An Instant

If we said the word instant to you at the start of September, what would come to mind? Instant coffee? Instant downloads? How that has all changed.

Google Instants was, is and will be the buzz word in search, so it comes as no surprise that it took centre stage on almost every search, technology and Google engineer’s blog in the past month.

Yet this wasn’t the only major news in the search market, at the start of the month, Hitwise Experian reported that the Yahoo! Bing partnership now constituted 25% of the market in the US.

Getting Re-Acquainted with Some Social Names

In the field of social the usual names made headlines but there was also some blog inches afforded to Diaspora (who released their first bit of code as they continue their mission to make a security aware Facebook) and Flickr – who published their 5 billionth image.

September was also the month that Facebook launched Facebook Places, allowing you to show your friends (yes they were very security conscious about this) where you are and who with.

Before we get all Facebooked out, as the social giant announced yet more updates to their services, we took a look at Facebook ‘likes’ as a substitute for link building.

The mobile market also earned some coverage as figures about the market and M&S’s performance should a greater trust and use of mobile video and mobile retail.
