According to new information from comScore, mobile video is on the up. Also, according to M&S, their mobile performance has gone through the roof, indicating a greater trust in retail on mobile. What does all this say – predictions about the growth of mobile weren’t wrong!
New information from comScore shows that people watching video on mobile devices has increased by 66% over the past year to 12.1 million users in the EU5 (Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain). In the UK market, growth is recorded as 75% with over 2.7 million mobile consumers compares to 1.5 million in July 2009.
Greater Trust in the Mobile Market
These figures have led to European VP of Mobile, Jeremy Copp, to state that “the era of ‘video-on-the-go’ has finally arrived”.
Added to this is the news that M&S’s mobile commerce site has generated more than 1.2 million unique visitors. This has led to over 13,000 sales and 10million page views – far exceeding their expectations.
All this points to a growing trust and indeed need for mobile operations. The fact that retailers are showing confidence when buying via their mobile presents an exciting opportunity for retail brands.
These snippets of information should demonstrate the growing need to have a mobile presence.
