History is defined by anecdotes, quotes and phrases that shaped a nation, policy or regime but is this the latest iconic quote to go down in the annals of time?
"So that means the barrage might come back later all at once."
It’s hardly Shakespeare but what it does do is perfectly encapsulate our social world - so central to modern living. But why all the fuss? Well that was the 20 billionth tweet on Twitter.
Tweets Doubled in Five Months
Twitter is such an accepted part of so many people’s lives today that people are even able to travel around the world for free on the strength of some micro-blogging.
However, one of the most extraordinary things about this tweet is that it was only in March this year that the 10 billionth tweet was recorded. It had taken four years to reach that landmark. Now, just five months on and the amount of tweets have doubled.
The tweet was made by GGGGGGo_Lets_Go, who is a Tokyo-based graphic designer, on Saturday at 1544 GMT. It was part of a conversation, which is why it was so apt that it became the 20 billionth tweet.
