This is a move that will allow users of both to more easily manage their accounts, with a single update being shared across both platforms. It marks a continued growth of the relationship between Yahoo! and Facebook following an agreement in 2009.
This closer relationship between the two will also see an overhaul of Yahoo!’s profile service so that it is easier for people to control what they share. People who have profiles on both will now be able to share the same update.
They will also be able to send material from Flickr and Yahoo!’s other services like music and video to friends on Facebook who don’t have a Yahoo! profile.
Making Yahoo! More Social
Yahoo! have been making great efforts recently to improve their social image. They have signed a deal with Zynga recently that will see the popular games, of Facebook fame, like Mafia Wars and Farmville work on the network.
Plus they have recruited David Beckham to blog on Yahoo! about everything and anything, plus users will be able to put their questions to the England legend. Not a bad signing eh!
By providing a service that is more closely aligned with the social offerings of Facebook, Yahoo! are hoping that their services garner greater traction with a wider audience.
