Google Make More Changes to Search Results

Google is changing and your searches are about to become yet more refined. Earlier this week you might have noticed a slightly different interface when you punched in your search queries. This is because Google have given you more options to narrow down your searches so that you get to the information you need quicker. Oh and they have a shiny new logo too!

The previous two-section approach is being phased out and they are making space for a three-section interface, with a left hand column appearing. This column will exhibit a plethora of new choices to help you narrow down your search.

We say new choices; they aren’t really as they are inspired by Universal Search, the search options panel and Google Squared. Instead of many of these being hidden on the site they will now be emblazoned alongside your search results to help you make more informed choices. Paid for ads will still be displayed on the right hand side.

A Streamlined Look and Functionality

Google said, “The new design refreshes and streamlines the look, feel and functionality of Google, making it easier to pinpoint what you’re looking for. It’s powerful, yet simple.”

Some of the interesting options that are now more readily available include date specific results, related searches and a choice of colours – perfect if you are searching for the right kind of image. This new interface will be rolled out over 37 different languages.

On a final note, as aforementioned, the logo has changed too. The trademark logo has been dropped and the colours, although the same, are more vibrant. It is what Google describe as “keeping our page minimalist and whimsical, but make our overall look more modern.” Things certainly have been given a spring clean.
