Google uses PPC principles

Google applies the same approaches to its own website design that pay-per-click (PPC) campaign managers could be wise to adopt, it has been suggested.

Writing for semvironment, shanesnow notes that Google's login page for AdWords uses text and image rotation.

This includes variations on the main headline - such as "Accountable Advertising with Google" and "Grow your business on Google".

On the login button itself, the text changes between "Start now" and "Click to begin", while the button colour also changes.

"Probably the most fundamentally important task in PPC management is testing," shanesnow asserts.

The author adds that Google "tests everything before it changes something".

In July, shanesnow reported a UK-specific test by Google of the background colour of its sponsored links box at the top of search results.

Shades of blue, green and yellow are among those trialled by the search engine for its PPC advertisements container, it was noted.
