Focus on social media marketing grows

There is set to be an increasing focus on social media marketing among businesses this year, it has been claimed.
Darren Dutton, business director at Marketing.co.uk, said in the last one to two years, there has been a shift in the marketing medium, with many more organisations now keen to discuss it.
He added that social media will still be seen in business promotion strategies in 12 months' time, while there may be a move towards smaller networks.
"Other companies in other sectors, whether that be the financial sector or the construction sector, will maybe start tapping into social media to connect to their target audiences," Mr Dutton explained.
He made his comments at the Technology For Marketing & Advertising 2010 event, which took place in London last week.
Meanwhile, the Internet Advertising Bureau Social Media Council, a group set up to raise advertiser awareness of social media, recently launched a blog to aid the promotion of their initiatives and encourage industry debate.
