Could SEO help with economic recovery?

It could be said online marketing techniques - such as search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click and social media marketing - may never have been more important, after it was suggested technology is key to economic recovery.

Kevin Dendy, commercial director at the Direct Marketing Association, speaking at Technology For Marketing & Advertising (TFM&A) 2010, said technology for marketing would prove vital to the UK's recovery from its recent period of recession.

He urged that enterprises would find it is essential to implement new technology to boost their marketing campaigns if they wished to survive and grow following the downturn.

"It's amazing what you can do now that you couldn't do ten years ago. Ten years ago you didn't have any email [...] nowadays, if you don't have technology you're not going to move with the times," Mr Dendy stated.

TFM&A is the UK's only integrated marketing and advertising event and took place at London's Earls Court last week.
