While businesses may be keen to attract potential customers to their website through online promotional techniques such as search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click or social media marketing, they should also ensure the content is user-friendly.
Such a goal should be just as much a priority as driving consumers to the site in the first place, with Search Engine Watch's Mark Jackson noting there are a number of tips that can make a site more accessible to customers.
He cites an article written by David Cooper for WebProNews, which claimed Flash was one way of improving a site, while page loading time is also becoming increasingly important in terms of the Google algorithm.
Reducing graphic size could help to lower load time, while broken links can damage SEO and HTML validation is optimal for search.
Mr Cooper noted websites should also be compatible with a browser, while crawlable navigation, easy to read blogs and the correct spelling also improves the user experience.
Sam Tilston, marketing director of Memorybits.co.uk, recently claimed ensuring a number of relevant and quality sites link to a business's own website is the "main factor" of success in SEO.
