Value and individuality key to socials media

The key to making social media marketing a success lies in ensuring the content used is unique, valuable and interactive, one sector commentator has claimed.

And businesses planning a social media marketing campaign may wish to consider starting with Facebook, which, according to Tech Crunch, is the favourite online channel when it comes to sharing content.

Indeed, over the last 30 days, people have shared almost a million items over the Gigya network, with Facebook claiming a 31 per cent share, compared to Google's 30 per cent, Yahoo's 25 per cent, Twitter's 11 per cent and AOL's three per cent.

Commenting on the news, Jacob Morgan, principal of Chess Media Group, a social business consultancy, said to make a social media marketing scheme a success, it is crucial to clearly understand where consumers are the most active.

"Brands need to continue to provide interactive, valuable, and unique content to their customers to keep the relationships and the community going strong," he explained.
