MySpace has announced that updates have now been integrated into Google's universal search - news that may interest businesses working on a social media marketing campaign.
Live updates which will be available on Google's search include visual content, while the results will be ranked through search engine optimisation (SEO) based on how relevant or fresh they are.
Furthermore, the site now includes a Twitter tool which aims to allow companies to cross-post updates from the micro-blogging site into MySpace.
Commenting on the developments, Sam Tilston, marketing director of memorybits.co.uk, said the challenge with universal search is that firms now have to create content and build links to web properties that are included in it.
This is in comparison to before when marketers could focus their efforts on on-page SEO and building links to sites in order to improve their search positions and drive traffic, he explained.
However, Mr Tilston added the positive aspect to this was the chance of seeing "quick wins".
"Releasing a keyword optimised press release on PR Web can put your brand on the first page of Google temporarily for little effort," he concluded.
