When targeting geographical areas, search engine optimisation (SEO) practitioners have been advised to consider local misspellings of words.
Dave Chaffey writes on his blog of the misspelt words which are prevalent in some regions of the world.
In France, he notes, websites written in English frequently contain the word holliday, rather than holiday.
Mr Chaffey also points out that about two-thirds of the world's population searches in languages other than English.
As such, he advises those looking to reach the widest audience to take other languages into account when undertaking SEO.
The SEO expert also recently gave advice to marketing managers on the best way to target pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns at specific regions.
He reminded advertisers to ensure they specify the correct region setting for their PPC campaign.
By doing so, he explained that marketing managers can make sure their advertisements appear alongside the relevant search results for their target audience.
