Businesses which combine mobile advertising with online marketing schemes - such as pay per click or social media marketing - can significantly increase customer awareness of their brand, it has been revealed.
According to the Internet Advertising Bureau, the click-through rate online was 150 per cent higher among people who had been exposed to - and recalled a given mobile ad.
Spontaneous brand awareness was 50 per cent higher among those who had seen mobile ads than those who had seen no nationwide advertising - and increased to 114 per cent when the sample were exposed to both online and mobile marketing.
Meanwhile, purchasing decisions were also found to be influenced.
Commenting on the news, Matt McNeil, founder of Sign-Up.to, said: "We've definitely seen the market accelerate over the last 12 months as people have begun to realise the opportunities that mobile marketing can offer."
He added another benefit of mobile advertising was that it could be made more personal to the recipient, such as by featuring information on a relevant location.
