Businesses should take care when embarking on a pay per click (PPC) campaign to review their keywords in order to get the best results, once they have successfully bid on the terms.
Jason Tabeling, in a post for Search Engine Watch, explains Google provides a standard report displaying the data available on how the terms are working but it is important to review and understand this information.
A web analytics package should be employed to view the keywords in relation to the search term relationship, he adds.
Mr Tabeling notes search engines do not show the keyword advertisement that they would be expected to every time, even though this is logical thinking.
"This shouldn't come as a surprise, but after reviewing the definition the search engines provide and reviewing some data it's easy to see that you can never assume the search engines are 100 per cent accurate," he explains.
Keywords should be reviewed through analytics regularly to determine if any useful variations can be added in order to boost success.
Ed Stevenson, in a post for the e-consultancy blog, recently stated careful management, targeting and testing of keywords should be a priority in terms of PPC.
