B2B receives highest return from SEO

More than any other search marketing tool, business to business (B2B) products receive their greatest return on investment from search engine optimisation (SEO), a new report has revealed.

According to the research by Marketing Sherpa, 13 per cent of leads from SEO were classed as high quality and high quantity.

Meanwhile, pay per click saw 11 per cent of leads labelled as both high quality and quantity.

Both these sets of figures' yields are significantly higher than those achieved by either paid search on vertical search engines or on Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and Ask, the study noted.

Commenting on the news, Sam Tilston, online marketing director and SEO expert at Zoombits.co.uk, said customers who use Google find the SEO listings "more trustworthy" than those garnered using other methods.

He also advised businesses to consider social media marketing when it came to increasing their online presence.

"B2B suits social media better as it is a very effective form of brand building, customer communication and customer relationship management, in particular for global brands," Mr Tilston explained.
