When it comes to social media marketing and self-promotion, Labour is one of the most prolific political parties, it has been revealed.
Graham Charlton, writing for the e-consultancy blog, said the Labour party appears to lead in contrast to its rivals on micro-blogging site Twitter.
According to the Tweetminister report on Twitter and politics, Labour has 113,201 followers, in comparison to the Conservatives which have 36,874 and the Liberal Democrats' 32,202.
Furthermore, 59 per cent of the MPs who use Twitter are members of the Labour party, while 13 per cent are Conservative and 23 per cent are Lib Dems.
Mr Charlton claims Labour has "certainly" integrated Twitter into its campaign, ahead of this year's General Election.
"It seems to me that Labour's new media team has simply come to terms with Twitter more quickly than rival parties. Whether this has any effect on how people actually vote remains to be seen though," he adds.
Twitter recently announced it is now recruiting more staff to focus on monetising its micro-blogging service.
