Google has reported its results for the fourth quarter and announced it enjoyed 17 per cent year-on-year revenue growth, in news which may interest businesses using the search leader for search engine optimisation purposes.
Furthermore, the search market leader revealed revenues of $6.67 (£4.12) billion for the quarter ending December, while Google's revenues from the UK totalled $772 (£477) million, or 12 per cent of revenue.
Vicky Redwood, UK economist for Capital Economics, said UK methods for getting online are diversifying due to both a growth in infrastructure and an expansion in their internet offerings.
"Also, there's now a variety of sectors. Originally it was concentrated in a few but we've seen it diversify into clothing now and I think that trend will continue," she added.
Ms Redwood continued that many firms would be looking to increase their online presence both in an effort to stay ahead of competitors and to keep costs down.
