Keyword research should be split up and used across multiple pages of a website in order to utilise the terms for maximum search engine optimisation (SEO) effect, one sector commentator has advised.
Randfish, writing in a post for SEOmoz, says once a list of keywords and terms has been established, marketers need to determine which phrases to target and where and how to target them.
After first assembling them by broad association by sorting high demand keywords into core subject groupings, the intent and segment of the keywords should then be established.
This means determining the intent of each individual visitor to the site, which Randfish claims is "critical", as it is technically worse to rank in the top position but have a low conversion rate.
A design hierarchy should then be established according to usability and natural fit, before laying out the keyword targeting plans, he continues.
"This planning process is key to getting the best results possible. Over time, your analytics data can help show you where assumptions have been incorrect and you can course correct," he notes.
In a previous post, Randfish stated constant testing and refinement was recommended to perfect SEO.
