When putting together a search engine optimisation (SEO) or pay per click (PPC) campaign, time is of the essence and the projects need to be prioritised, according to one sector commentator.
Herndon Hasty, in a post for Search Engine Watch, said it is time which should create a sense of urgency in getting such a marketing agenda off the ground, as SEO and PPC can take a while to get started and more time to produce the best results.
He added SEO is about long-term growth, adding: "Development alone can take months for even the simplest of changes, indexing those updates takes another few weeks and then there's a waiting period before real growth even begins."
Commenting on PPC, Mr Hasty noted while such a campaign is easy and quick to start, it takes time to build up a significant online presence.
Particularly when using such marketing schemes as part of an advertising campaign attached to a date - such as Valentine's Day - he claimed SEO and PPC need to be prioritised.
Businesses may also wish to leave time to factor in a successful social media marketing campaign, which Search Engine Watch's Nathania Johnson recently suggested could be useful for organisations such as charities.
