SEO for the whole business

In order to make search engine optimisation (SEO) a success, one writer has advised more than just a business’s search marketers should be involved in a campaign.

Rob Ousbey, writing for SEOmoz, states a number of members within an organisation can be given an explanation of how SEO affects them and what they can do to boost it.

"Inspiring people in this way leads to their ongoing commitment and a successful organisation full of motivated, happy people," he notes.

Mr Ousbey explains a chief executive officer should be told about the benefits of SEO so that they can promote it internally within the company, while a chief technology officer should be urged to assign a proportion of their group’s time to the campaign.

Meanwhile, a web designer should spend time speaking to developers about any designs which may hinder SEO efforts and sales managers can be useful in conducting keyword research, while a content editor can spend time reviewing analytics.

While every businesses has different roles within it, Mr Ousbey states the different members can all be persuaded to do their bit to boost SEO.

Jonathan Allen, in a recent blog for Search Engine Watch, advised SEO can also be improved by attracting customers through giving back to the community by contributing projects and research to members.
