Businesses planning to launch a pay per click (PPC) campaign for the new year have been offered some "killer tips" on doing so by one sector commentator.
Ashley Friedlein, in a blog for eConsultancy, stated one way to successfully sell content online is to ensure content is viewed as marketing, stating search engine (SEO) optimisation is "by far the most effective way" to drive traffic and convert it into customers at a low cost.
Due to this, he notes SEO and PPC should be seen as an investment rather than a cost and it is worth cutting back on the traditional marketing budget in order to invest in it.
Mr Friedlein goes on to note marketers should think like retailers and see them as individual customers, rather than traffic or a demographic.
"After all, we're trying to sell and retailers are good at that. If we're going to successfully sell content we should be speaking retail speak," he adds.
Rob Ousbey, writing for SEOmoz, recently claimed when embarking on a search marketing campaign, there are roles for all members of an organisation to play which could see them helping to improve the success rate of the scheme.
