As with the traditional new year's resolutions of losing weight, starting the gym or eating healthily, marketers should ensure they keep their search engine optimisation (SEO) resolutions realistic to achieve, one sector commentator has advised.
Writing for SEOmoz, Dr Pete said aiming to get the number one ranking position in Google is not always a realistic goal or possible to achieve over a short space of time.
He added that to make a success of an SEO campaign, marketers should have goals in place they aim to achieve all year round, such as reaching set rankings each week.
Looking at SEO resolutions which are actionable, Dr Pete noted they can be broken down into two groups - on-page SEO and link-building.
They include creating an XML site map, removing low-quality links, rewriting page titles, finding promising link prospects, creating set pieces of new content each month and spending a time each day building a social media profile and commenting on industry blogs.
Jonathan McLellan, a spokesperson for Pixl8, recently stated one of the most important aspects when planning an SEO campaign is to target specific and relevant keywords.
