Take care with keywords for SEO success

Content, structure and links are the foundations of successful search engine optimisation (SEO) and should be considered of equal relevance and importance, it has been stated.

A blog on SEO Consult recommended content is an easy place to start when building an SEO campaign, with marketers advised the creation of new content and the strategic placing of keywords is a good place to start.

Jonathan McLellan, a spokesperson for Pixl8, said it is becoming "more vital" for companies to consider SEO, particularly in terms of targeting specific keywords.

"The size of company or organisation often dictates strategy in terms of choosing the keywords you aim to target," he added, noting a smaller firm was unlikely to find success targeting general and common key terms.

For this reason, Mr McLellan recommended focussing on more specific keywords relating to the company's brand or services.

He concluded choosing keywords was a similar process whether conducting an SEO or pay per click marketing campaign.
