Integrating user optimisation in SEO

Best practices in search engine optimisation (SEO) and usability have a "congruent nature", one sector commentator has claimed, stating that the user experience of a site should run in parallel with SEO efforts.

In a post for Search Engine Watch, Ron Jones said that in addition to SEO, it was important businesses optimised their websites in order to reach the right customer base.

He added that while search is the opening part of the site's user experience, meaning it is useful to understand how a website is reaching its audience.

"Sites should offer help and user assistance features in the context to site content so users don't have to navigate to a separate place to find a help section," Mr Jones asserted.

He concluded that updating a website to make it more accessible is a "growing practice".

Search Engine Watch's Carrie Hill recently stated that it is important a website is set up in a way which helps visitors to convert to customers.
