Google's new search site uncovered

Businesses planning a search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign may be interested to hear an exploit has been discovered which allows Google's new and previously unrevealed search site to be seen.

Gadget site Gizmodo discovered the exploit, although the page had previously been closed under a limited trial.

The redesigned page has an altered interface, while the navigation tabs now appear on the left side of the screen in a vertical column, rather than in a horizontal line across the top as is currently the case.

Furthermore, the gadget site noted that the speed of Google search has increased and loading times are also faster due to the page elements being simplified.

Commenting on the discovery, Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, said it was doubtful that Google would care that some of the technology community had uncovered the trial.

"If they had wanted to limit visibility of the new interface to specific people [...] then they could have arranged it so only users within certain Internet Protocol ranges [...] would be able to view the newly styled pages," he added.
