Website analytics can be made to work within different information environments by implementing RSS feeds, it has been suggested.
David Snyder explains in a Search Engine Journal article that information environments represent regions of content below domain level, typically covering different topics or categories.
But he notes that it may be difficult to compile website statistics on these lower levels, compared with conducting analytics across the entire domain.
Using RSS, he explains that content within different categories may be delivered directly to users of the website, as well as helping search engine spiders to crawl collections of relevant information.
Meanwhile, Mr Snyder suggests that similar categories may be grouped into larger sections, with site maps created to further aid website analytics.
He recently wrote on the Search and Social SEO blog that the topic of how website information is structured is among the most frequently overlooked aspects of web design.
