Businesses contemplating starting a blog in order to boost the traffic arriving at their site through search engine optimisation (SEO) may be having difficulty deciding whether to opt for full or partial text.
Randfish, in a blog post for SEOmoz, explains that partial text means that subscribers or readers can read some of the post but have to click-through to the website to read the rest, which he notes "really annoys" some people.
Meanwhile, with full text, as the name suggests, users can read all of the content - and the commentator states this is better for SEO.
"All things being equal, you tend to get more subscribers with full text than partial, which boosts your numbers, gives you wider distribution and increases the likelihood you'll earn a link from those readers," he notes.
The SEO expert adds that full text feeds can be re-published in full, allowing any of the value of the links in the blog to be passed on to the business, while some feed lists can be "picky" about partial text and so not include them.
Rachel Hawkes, account director at media consultancy Elemental, recently suggested using video content within blogs as this can also help to drive SEO.
