When it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO) in modern search engines, the differences are relatively minor, although they used to be more significant, one sector commentator has claimed.
Chris Bellamy, co-founder of firstfound.co.uk, said that generally speaking, businesses were most likely to be targeting Google in their SEO campaign as this is where the bulk of their traffic would be coming from.
"The rules of SEO change every day, but new products or new technologies won't make it any more different than the things we're experiencing already [...] There are different algorithms. [With other products] we may have to present our results differently, but the essence is the same," he explained.
And while the different search engines claimed to offer something different from each other - with Microsoft's product Bing describing itself as a decision engine - Mr Bellamy noted this was because they wanted to branch out from Google.
In terms of search results, he added that Google's was "some of the best".
Last month, Microsoft announced it had teamed up with Wolfram Alpha, to offer users more informative results through its search engine Bing.
