Companies have been advised that building links to boost their search engine optimisation does not have to be an expensive process, but a procedure they could achieve on a budget.
In a post for Search Engine Watch, Justilien Gaspard explains that companies may wish to all other businesses they feel could benefit from their services and offer a free product or service for them once a week for a month in order to spread word of mouth.
Similarly, one employee could offer to become a guest writer or columnist for another website in order to increase exposure of their business and gain links, he advises.
Mr Gaspard adds: "Are you asking your best customers to recommend you on their blog, social media and website? If not, start. You never know what sites your clients are involved with."
Local and niche directories could also prove a useful place for business links to feature, he states.
Randfish, in a post for SEOmoz, recently claimed that the link building process is consistently evolving and that brand and link associations now appear to influence rankings more.
