The launch of Google Social Search and the forthcoming integration of live Tweets from micro-blogging website Twitter into Google are going to change the search engine optimisation (SEO) sector, it has been claimed.
PR firm Punch Communications has suggested that once Twitter's real-time updates have been integrated into Google's search results, more businesses were going to be prompted into considering a social media marketing campaign and communicating more with their customers.
And Will Cooper, deputy news editor for New Media Age, also believes that SEO is set to change.
"I do think the emphasis will be placed back onto new and more exciting content, I think that will become more important," he states.
Mr Cooper also notes that there is likely to be more of an emphasis on websites including content that gets people talking.
The UK Search Engine Marketing Benchmark Report 2009 by Econsultancy and Guava recently revealed that 85 per cent of responding companies utilise Google for paid search, while 94 per cent of agencies claim their clients typically pay to advertise on the search engine.
