In order to produce and manage a successful social media marketing campaign there are just four steps businesses need to keep in mind, according to one sector commentator.
In a blog post for Search Engine Watch, Erik Qualman states that these are listening to consumers and conversations concerning the brand, interacting in these dialogues, reacting by altering the product or service in line with what has been learnt and selling.
"Companies often enter the social media fray and jump straight to step four, selling. This is the worst thing you can do and it won't be effective," he warns.
Mr Qualman explains that by following these steps, a social media marketing campaign should work almost automatically, without any need for further adjustments.
Indeed, with the correct effort, the campaign should work in a circular motion and take a brand to the top, he claims.
Jason Falls, a social media consultant and blogger on socialmediaexplorer.com, recently echoed these sentiments, saying it is vital companies join in social media conversations which concern their product or service.
