Once a search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign has been launched and the meta data written, some businesses may feel at a loss as to what comes next in maintaining and increasing its success.
But Mark Jackson, in a post for Search Engine Watch, notes that one factor that should be kept a constant eye on is the O in SEO - optimisation.
"You measure success by the growth of organic/natural search engine traffic to the website and the growth in leads and sales for your business that can be directly attributed to your SEO efforts," he explains.
He recommends using web analytics to measure the results of an SEO campaign a few weeks after the initial recommendations have been implemented.
Rankings can then be checked to see which keywords are most successfully optimised, Mr Jackson continues.
Ari Ozick, a community member of SEO Book, recently claimed in a guest post for the site that it was also important the people working on an SEO campaign do not simply follow the crowd or rely on guess work, but base decisions on specifically compiled research.
