Facebook continues to grow

Businesses looking to launch a social media marketing campaign may wish to turn their attention to Facebook, as the site now has 300 million users.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, writing for the Facebook blog, said although the figure seemed large, the team behind the social network was "just getting started".

"The ratio of Facebook users to Facebook engineers makes it so that every engineer here is responsible for more than one million users. It's hard to have an impact like that anywhere else," he added.

Mr Zuckerberg went on to state that engineers were attempting to build the site in a sustainable way and hoped to be cash flow positive by next year.

In a later blog posting, Lee Byron announced that the site was launching Facebook Prototypes.

The new service will allow experiments being carried out by the team to be shared with users, who will also be able to test any of the products being used.
