Microsoft's 'decision engine' Bing has launched Visual search, which could prove useful to firms preparing to launch a search engine optimisation campaign.
The news follows a study conducted by Microsoft which revealed that results with images are processed 20 per cent faster than results which only contain text.
Bing's Todd Schwartz explains: "How many times have you seen a movie trailer and forgotten the name of it the next day? You go online to search for it but you can't seem to find the movie with 'what's-his-name' in it anywhere."
He said the feature will allow users to refine their search results through imagery, leading to an "amazing" search experience.
The feature allows people to scroll through galleries in categories such as movies, cars and products.
Mr Schwartz adds that the service could save people time when they are conducting a search.
Bing was unveiled earlier in the year and replaced Microsoft Live Search.
A recent survey by Chitika listed Bing as third in the search engine rankings, behind Yahoo! and Google.
