Google has announced that it has increased the size of its search entry box, which may be good news in terms of search engine optimisation.
The search engine leader claims that while the change is only a simple one, it is "excited" about it.
Writing for the official Google blog, Marissa Mayer, vice-president of search products and user experience, said the alternation reflects Google's primary focus on search and makes its minimalist homepage "even easier", as well as "more fun" to use.
As well as using larger text to allow users to see their query more clearly, she adds "it also uses a larger text size for the suggestions below the search box, making it easier to select one of the possible refinements".
Ms Mayer concludes that the change makes search "more prominent".
Commenting on the news, Rusty Brick writes on SEO Roundtable that "most people" who were voicing their opinions were not happy with the change, stating it was "immature" although he himself claims he "barely" notices it.
