One of the main routes to success in the search engine optimisation (SEO) sector is by demonstrating the ability to differentiate, one sector commentator has claimed.
Eric Enge, in a post for Search Engine Watch, there was a two-fold reason to this, the first being that potential linkers were more likely to provide a link and the second that it would make a stronger impression on site visitors, leading to a conversion.
He added that the internet is intensely competitive today and that there were now websites in almost every category or sub-category imaginable.
Speaking of tactical link building, Mr Enge said "success should be a sufficient reason to look for ways to differentiate your website, there are broader strategic reasons to do so as well. If you plan on being in your business for the long term, you need to plan on being a leader in your space".
He noted that in the future, social media marketing was likely to play an increasingly important role in helping consumers to identify a quality business.
And Tom C recently wrote in SEOmoz that when marketing a product through SEO, firms may wish to include a keyphrase or descriptive words in the product's name in order to gain a higher search ranking.
