A recent study in the growth rates of different online marketing methods has seen the use of pay per click (PPC), email and direct marketing increase, while search engine optimisation (SEO) has proven steady.
The report by Search Engine Watch revealed that SEO has seen the least amount of decline on order value, which the online resource stated was "significant" amid the current economic downturn.
This is despite the fact SEO demonstrated the least amount of growth in value per visit and conversion rate.
When it came to average order value, SEO had also declined the least, which was thought to also be a reaction to the economy.
"While SEO does cost money if you hire a consultant or retain an in-house employee, there are no extra charges for ad buys as there would be for PPC," the study noted.
Meanwhile, a recent study by Online Lead Generation revealed that online lead generation budgets are increasing.
