A recent poll of some of the top people within the field of search engine optimisation (SEO) has revealed the top SEO ranking factors, which could prove useful to businesses launching such a marketing campaign.
SEOmoz's biennial study had revealed that keyword-focused anchor text from external links came out on top, with a 73 per cent vote of very high importance.
Meanwhile, external link popularity - the quantity and quality of external links - garnered 71 per cent of the vote, followed by diversity of link sources (67 per cent), keyword use anywhere in the title tag (66 per cent) and trustworthiness of the domain based on link distance from trusted source (66 per cent).
And with a very high importance rating of 68 per cent, cloaking with malicious or manipulative intent was found to be the most negative ranking factor.
The website's Randfish commented on the findings, claiming that any businesses serious about SEO should take the results into account.
