Google displays Bing results

It has been suggested that Google is indexing search results that have been gathered by Microsoft's Bing, in news which may interest businesses initiating a search engine optimisation campaign.

In a blog post for SEO Roundtable, Rusty Brick carried out a test and found that Google - the current leader within the search engine market - was including Bing search results within its own index.

He went on to contact Yahoo!, Ask.Com and Bing to see if any of them were taking the same course of action, but only Ask.com was.

Commenting on a recent discussion on the Google Webmaster Forum, the commentator said that generally Google did not like displaying search results within search results.

Vanessa Fox said that this practice did not tend to add any value for the users, which meant Google did not usually employ it.

Microsoft launched its new search engine earlier in the year as a replacement to Live Search.
