Over the past year, Yahoo! has done a number of things that would suggest it is "head-over-heels" with Twitter, one blogger has explained.
And Search Engine Land's Matt McGee states that all the evidence would appear to suggest that the search engine firm is interested in buying the micro-blogging site, although he adds that a lot of firms are.
Compiling the evidence, he notes that Yahoo! Meme is the organisation's own micro-blogging service, while its recently relaunched homepage also includes a status update tool similar to Twitter.
Furthermore, Yahoo! programmer Vik Singh has created a search engine - TweetNews - which re-ranks Yahoo's search results, while the company's site Know Your Mojo tells people what kind of Twitter user they are.
However, Mr McGee states that in the recent Yahoo! earnings conference call, "there were several mentions of Yahoo's plans to be more social. But the word Twitter wasn't mentioned once, not even in passing".
He concludes that the search engine's actions may speak louder than words.
Meanwhile, Search Engine Journal has claimed that GeoLocation may soon allow Twitter users to know where the people they are following are.
