Acronyms are there to improve your quality of life, to bring a little happiness to the otherwise sad, to breathe soul into the soulless, or perhaps just to ease your way through a jargon-filled conversation.

Where do you turn to then when one of the most used acronyms in your industry adds a light year to a conversation?

I’ve spent the equivalent of a 2-week holiday in Bognor Regis saying the words www over the phone, this year alone!

Phonetically it looks horrible – double yew double yew double yew!

Wouldn’t it be great if we had a one-syllable word for it instead of www? Dub Dub Dub sounds like a youth club dance-off and Wer Wer Wer seems a bit crazy.

Now then, for the record, let it be known, I have no axe to grind with SEO & PPC, they do exactly as they’re supposed to.

As for www, we need a universally accepted, one-syllable phrase that works for all parties. It need not be a recognised word though, it could be a sound. So, from here on in, I propose we all use “wuh” – job done.

If you could pass this on to everybody you know who uses the internet, our phrase could be universally accepted within a matter of days; imagine!

A similar protest was made with the still outstanding grammatical issue concerning the lack of a trans-genderous word for him/her. I.e, in the English language, it is impossible describe a single human being in the third person without specifying a gender. Suggestions were made; the most popular was "bod". Needless to say this did not take off, i have never heard anyone refer to a person as "bod over there" etc. Unfortunately i fear your word "wuh" could fall victim to the same rejection. Thanks
