Corporate spending on online marketing campaigns such as search engine optimisation and pay per click is set to increase in the UK over the next 12 months, new research has found.
The study, which was commissioned ahead of this year's ad:tech London event, revealed that 48 per cent of respondents are planning to spend 30 per cent of their budget on digital marketing, which is an increase of nine per cent in the last 12 months.
And Mobile Marketing Magazine reveals that 62 per cent of those polled admitted this was because they believed that online marketing would deliver a greater return on investment than other marketing types.
Christophe Asselin, group marketing and content director for ad:tech, said: "There are clearly opportunities for marketers to capitalise on the increasing investment by UK businesses in online marketing."
And social media marketing also looks to be on the rise, with a report by Association of National Advertisers noting that 66 per cent of marketers have used such a campaign this year, compared to 20 per cent in 2007.
