Last week saw R&B star Chris Brown's hit song Forever climb up the charts thanks to a home video uploaded on YouTube, something many pay-per-click professionals may have already noticed.
In the video, bride and groom Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz danced their way down the aisle to the song.
The clip proved to be an overnight sensation, with their video attracting around ten million views in under a week.
Writing in the YouTube Biz Blog last week, technical account manager Chris LaRosa and music partner Ali Sandler said the website boasts sophisticated content management tools to help rights owners control their content.
"The rights holders for Forever used these tools to claim and monetise the song, as well as to start running click-to-buy links over the video, giving viewers the opportunity to purchase the music track on Amazon and iTunes," they noted.
Writing for Cnet.com, creative director Chris Matyszczyk said the song sold extremely well, charting at number four with iTunes.
