Social networking site Facebook has announced the launch of new advertisement targeted features, which may prove useful in social media marketing.
The site notes that the three features it is unveiling are the most requested to date - connection targeting, multiple country targeting and birthday targeting.
While the first feature allows marketers to target ads at members of their firm's page, group, event or application - by increasing engagement through sending alerts and promoting special offers - the multiple country feature allows brands to add up to 25 nations which can be targeted with a single advertisement.
The birthday targeting feature, meanwhile, means that special birthday messages can be delivered on the correct day to target audience members.
Commenting on the new features, the site's Justin Osofsky said: "Many developers have found that advertising on Facebook can meaningfully boost these organic distribution channels."
This may be particularly true after the social media site revealed that its user base had now hit 250 million worldwide.
