Business blogging leads to long-term rewards

Businesses that make effective use of blogs can expect to reap the rewards over time, it has been noted.

However, recent research by writemysite.co.uk has revealed that 70 per cent of small businesses are failing to update their blogs regularly.

Furthermore, while 29 per cent are managing to populate their blogs between one and three times each month, the remaining 71 per cent admit that their blogs have fallen out of their list of priorities.

This is despite the claim of 62 per cent of respondents that they set up a blog in the hope that it would increase traffic to their websites.

Commenting on the figures, Chris Lake, editor-in-chief at Econsultancy, said this suggested a lack of planning, strategy and resources among small businesses.

"Blogging is part of a wider marketing/customer engagement strategy and if you're going to do it then you need to plan, resource and execute properly," he stated, adding that by looking to the long term, companies could expect to be rewarded "massively".
