Many of the Fortune 100's top chief executive officers (CEOs) are falling behind when it comes to their own personal social media marketing, new research has found.
The study by Uberceo revealed that of the people surveyed, just two had a Twitter account, while only 13 per cent had LinkedIn profiles - with three of these having over ten connections.
Furthermore, 81 per cent of CEOs did not have a personal profile on Facebook, while a third of the three-quarters of respondents who had a Wikipedia entry saw the pages feature outdated or limited information.
Finally, the results showed that none of the Fortune 2009 CEOs had a blog.
Commenting on the findings, the group asserted: "The long and short of it is that CEOs have the opportunity to positively [affect] their company's perception, visibility and brand experience by taking part in social media activities."
And such CEOs may wish to pay closer attention to Hitwise, after the group revealed that UK online traffic to the site had increased 22-fold over the last year.
