Bing xRank leading the way

The release of Microsoft's new "decision engine" has largely been a critical success so far and now one sector commentator has claimed that Google's web analytics service - Google Trends - is lagging behind its search rival.

In a post for Tech Crunch, Eric Schonfeld stated that Google Trends was delayed by up to three days when compared to Microsoft's Bing xRank - which showed up-to-date data.

The two tools both allow users to compile charts demonstrating the most popular words and terms being search for online.

This means that while a Google trend graph will contain data that is three days old, Bing will be contemporary up to the day the graph is compiled.

"In cases such as these, the fact that Google is not showing the search data from today and yesterday means that it is completely missing the trend," Mr Schonfeld stated.

Recent research compiled by Nielsen Online revealed that on June 1st Bing doubled the number of unique visitors that Microsoft Live Search had seen the previous day.
