Microsoft has this week officially made its new search engine available to all internet users and after much speculation has settled on the name Bing.
Whitney Burk, director of Bing, writes on the tool's official blog that it is Microsoft's "first ever decision engine".
She adds that in honour of its unveiling, the software firm lit up Seattle's famous landmark, the Space Needle.
"With Bing, we are focused on helping you complete tasks faster by presenting better organised and more relevant content [and] great tools to help you in your search experience," Ms Burk states.
She explains that the service has also been designed to help people save time and money in the areas of travel, shopping, local services and health.
Commenting ahead of the launch at the end of last month, Search Engine Land's Danny Sullivan stated that other choices rumoured to be considered for the new search engine were Kumo, Hook and Sift.
